Change Management Foundation
DURATION AND EXPECTED PREPARATION TIME
4 (four) working days. For the exam approximately 8 hours preparation time is required.
GOAL
To provide guidance on the principles and practice of managing change within organizations. This course will deliver general understanding of the fundamental principles of Change Management based on Making Sense of Change Management (‘the book’). This Course is divided into four separate knowledge modules: Individual Change, Team Change, Organizational Change and Leading Change. Following completion of this course the student will:
- Understand why teams are important in change
- Know what a team is and what types of team there are
- Know the elements of team effectiveness
- To understand how teams change and develop
- Know different roles people play in teams
- Understand how personality can affect teams
- Know how team change impacts organizational change
For each of the different modules the learning objectives are:
Individual Change: why helping individuals through change is important, what happens when people experience change, what factors affect people’s response to change, four different ways of seeing individual change (behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic and humanistic), how personality affects a person’s relationship with change, how & why people resist change, How you can assist people through change.
Team Change: Understand why teams are important in change, Know what a team is and what types of team there are, Know the elements of team effectiveness, To understand how teams change and develop, Know different roles people play in teams, Understand how personality can affect teams, Know how team change impacts organizational change.
Organizational Change: Identify key metaphors of organisational change, and how they link to change management action, Understand your own assumptions about how organisational change works, and how managers help this to happen, Critically evaluate different models of organisational change, Begin to build an integrated model of the organisational change process.
Leading change: Understand the relationship between leadership style and change, Identify different leadership styles, Understand the effects of different leadership styles on the change process, Describe the different leadership roles in the change process, Begin to develop a healthy response to the demands of leadership of change.
METHOD
The course will be done group wise. Every module will be covered by theory, examples from practice and a lot of assignments or interactive discussions.

This is aimed at individuals who require a working knowledge of the key principles of change management, who need to know the terminology used and some of the theory behind the practice.
